A nasty day to drive the Coquihalla Hwy

We left Hope in the morning of 4th June to start up the Coquihalla Hwy in rain, low clouds and very miserable cold weather,  went through Kamloops and stayed the night at Juniper Beach Prov. park with the CN rail lines on one side of the park and across the river the CP rail lines,  A good place to count trains here. as they usually go by at about 15 minute intervals.....the most I have counted is 163 engines and cars.

Swiftsure Yacht Race

While visiting with John and Peggy in Sidney we went down to the Victoria shore on Saturday morning to watch the start of the Swiftsure yacht. There was hardly any wind and most yachts were carried across the start line by the ebbing tide.  If they were 'over early' and had to return and recross the start line they were in the next class of yachts starting.  In the second photo the large ketch if the HMCS Oriole the Navies training ship, she does not have a winch on board and all line are handled by man power.

Lunch at Fred and Colleen's

We spent a most enjoyable lunch and afternoon with Fred, Colleen and Werner catching up and telling stories from many years ago when we all worked at Neon Products.
