Both Alabama and Mississippi have a very short piece of coast line onto the Gulf of Mexico, so we did not have an over night stop in Mississippi. The land scape all through Florida, Alabama and Mississippi is very low and featureless along the coastal areas, also very poor. As we drove along the coast on Highway 90 we arrived in Biloxi where Hurricane Katrina hit hard just over three years ago. In the first picture you can see a break water around where there was once a large marina. The second picture was taken looking where a huge house had stood with just the foundations still in place, all of the houses across the road from the water front were wiped out. The houses on the street behind were not hit as hard and have either been rebuilt or repaired. The third picture shows pilings, that was once a pier out into the ocean. As we drove into the down town area the only new and prosperous buildings were the casinos and we counted about ten of them.

Hi from non-sunny white rock! As a matter of fact,it is snowing and in case you didn't know, we are sick of the stuff. Got home from Deb and Roger's on the 7th. We were due to get home on the 6th. but had to stay at a hotel that night as the flights could not get in or out of Kamloops. Deb brought us to the airport in a snow storm and although she wanted to wait in order to see if we got on the plane, we urged her to go home and good thing we did as she said it was a very messy trip home for her. Our flight was cancelled so we just cabbed it to a hotel and re-booked for the next day. Finally did get out but the weather was not good. Our trip up on New Year's day was interesting as we flew up, circled the airport twice and then back to Vancouver as the ceiling was too low for landing. They had us on stand-by for the next flight but we did not get on that one but did get on the following flight. Arrived in Kamloops and called Debbie but she could not get down the Paxton Valley Road as they had over a foot of snow the night before and of course there was no plow on New Years Day. So, Bill and family were up at Sun Peaks so they rescued us and took us in for the night. We felt like orphans! It was the second time that Bill had rescued us this past holiday season. Oh, this snow is messing up so much.
Where are you now? I know it will be warm and sunny. Loking forward to your next episode. So interesting.
