Kawakawa steam train

The small Northland town of Kawakawa has a steam train and carriages that pass along the center of the main street. There are about twenty one bridges between Kawakawa and Opua on the coast and it is hoped within the next few years to have the train running between both places again so tourists can enjoy the ten km run through the county side.
