Robert Service

Robert Service immortalized the Klondike Gold Rush and bought Canadian literature to a worldwide audience with his poems:    The Cremation of Sam McGee              The Ballard of hard Luck Henry
The Shooting of Sam McGrew              Bessie's Boil
The Ballard of Blasphemous Bill            Comfort
The Spell of the Yukon                          The Men That Don't Fit In
The Law of the Yukon                          The Call of the Wild
The Trail of Ninety-eight                       To The Men Of The High North
Just to name a few that are well known.  Robert Serviced lived in Dawson City for about eight years in this preserved very small cabin and wrote much of his poetry of the north while here.

There is a gazebo in the front yard of the cabin and Parks Canada have an actor who tells of the life of Robert Service and recites excerpts of some of his poetry. It was very well done and we enjoyed our hour of poetry.

Another interesting wood stove that served as the central heat and cook stove for the cabin.
His desk that he must have spent many long winter hours at writing his poetry.
