Jade mining

We turned off the Alaska Hwy on to the Stewart/Cassiar Hwy south and a few kms down the road is Jade City. 

These rocks are all boulders of jade, I had never seen so much in one place and just sitting out on the side of the road.  You can see the saws for cutting the blocks and there are sanding belts as well.

In the store was this Inukshuk made from highly polished jade stones.  All I could afford was a few jade beads to make a pair of earrings.
