Shanghai - the biggest commercial city in China

Our first stop in Shanghai is for lunch on the Bund, a promenade along the Huangpu River. This is where old meets new, with extremely modern buildings on one side of the river and the old traditional 'trading houses' of the 19th century on the other side.

The French quarter is well preserved and is a popular location for restaurants and bars.

These streets and buildings are in the 'Shikumen' area back from the Trading Houses on the Bund.

A classical Chinese Garden, water, unique stones, statues, and intricate buildings are all part of the garden

A dragon is always very significant.
Note the rather unique rock formations.
