Refrigeration Repair

One day in Florida back in December we found water running across the kitchen floor and discovered that the hose to the ice maker in the freezer had burst. Bill shut off the water and found that it had burst at the intake into the freezer so he cut off a section and reattached it but with in minutes it burst again, so we shut the ice maker off and bought some ice cube trays.

While at Herongate we booked Dutchess into the local RV dealer to have the hose replaced but Brian convinced Bill that the two of them could do the work themselves.

So one morning the fridge/freezer was slide out of it's cabinet onto two coolers and spun around so the back was exposed and they had the old hose off and measured. All four of us went into Vernon to one of the local hardware stores and $5.00 later we had 6' of 1/4" hose and a roll of aluminum sticky tape. The four of us went off for a very tasty chicken wings lunch and then it was back to Dutchess and the fridge.
Within no time at all they had the new hose and heated wire wrapped in the sticky aluminum tape and reinstalled, the fridge was slide back into the cabinet and by that evening we could hear the ice cubes dropping into the tray in the freezer.
