On July 1st we ventured off the main highway and traveled the scenic route through the 1000 Islands on the St. Lawrence River. The small towns along this byway were dressed in flags and many had parades and fireworks to celebrate our countries birthday. We even got stuck in a traffic detour around a park in one small town, with a local OPP Officer helping Bill get ‘Dutchess’ with ‘Granny’ in tow around a very tight corner. The scenic route 33 has a free ferry as a part of the highway system.
