Highway '41' and Alligator Alley

Highway I 75 across lower Florida between Fort Lauderdale on the east coast and Naples on the west coast is known as the Everglades Parkway or Alligator Alley. We decided to cross the Everglades on Highway 41 further south, along the Tamiami Canal from Miami in the east to just south of Naples on the west coast, right through Everglades National Park, and Big Cypress National Park. The wild life was fantastic, we could see Alligators from 'Dutchess' as we drove along the highway, with the canal on our right side. Lots of White and Grey Herons and birds drying their wings like cormorants, Great Egrets, varieties of Ibis and Boat Tailed Crackles. We stopped half way across to have lunch at a rest area and missed judged the turning radius of the parking lot onto the road and had to back up a bit with 'Granny' in tow and unhook, make the turn and re-hook up 'Granny', we haven't done that since we were in Twillingate, in Newfoundland. The Park Rangers came along and offered to help, as we held up traffic in both directions, but we have the whole process now down to a fine art and within about five minutes were on our way again.
