Anchorage, Downtown

On Thursday, parts had been sent out to another shop and Dutchess was just sitting and waiting for parts to arrive back. So we took the bikes out for the first time and dusted them off and headed into town. We parked and wandered around the down town area and the Info Centre.
Inside this log cabin Info Centre, there is a picture taken last winter/spring of a female and calf moose reaching up and trying to eat the grass off the roof with snow all around.  I read in one of the brochures that in the city limits of Anchorage there are about 1000 moose and you are more likely at dawn and dust to see a moose in Anchorage than out in the wild. Actually we have not seen very much wild life on our travels in Alaska compared to British Columbia were Bears, Moose, Wood Bison, Caribou were all on the side of the roads.
We could not find a parking place without meters in down town Anchorage so drove out to Earth Quake Park, and ride from there out to the end of the runway for Anchorage Airport and watch every three to four minutes planes thundering overhead.  A few were passenger jets but most were courier jets. The view looking back towards the city from the bike path near the airport.
