Repairs at Freightliner

Well, it is Thursday, a beautiful, clear, sunny day, not a cloud to be seen.
Patrick had a problem taking the fuel shut off valve off, not so much the valve but the bracket that holds it as the new fuel shut off valve is a slightly different size.  Two bolts out of three broke, so he had to remove the fuel injection pump that it was attached too it, shown above.  You can see on the top right side two broken bolts. The fuel injection pump and the fuel shut off valve were send off to another shop to have the bolts drilled out and the casing checked for leaks.  Luckily this was done as they found that the governor (bottom right hand corner)  was on it's last legs and needed repair.

This was taken Saturday morning showing Dutchess next to the Freightliner building where we have been camping all week.  It is raining today, so Patrick has rigged a tent to do the work under.
The very shiny gold coloured fuel shut off valve attached to the reconditioned fuel injection pump.
We had two test drives today. The first one, we were pumping out white smoke.........OH NO!!!!!!     Fuel injection had slipped out of time.  Four hours later, the second test drive and all sounds and looks good.  Patrick and Bill finally happy looking campers again.  Looks like we are off south onto the Kenai Penn toward Homer in the morning, Sunday, 22nd July.
GOD Knows!!!!!  What the bill will be like.  Thank goodness we have about 500 miles to travel on the Kenai Peninsula and then are returning to Anchorage so we can have Freightliner check over Dutchess if need be before heading down the Alaska Hwy again.
