Statue of Liberty

Our second day into New York, clear and very cold. You can see that we are wearing our heavy leather coats. We took the ferry out to the Statue of Liberty, had hoped to be able to get up to the top of the stone base but found that you had to book days if not a week in advance. Lady Liberty was a gift to America from the people of France and was originally a light house, she has welcomed thousands of immigrants as they entered New York Harbor by ship.

Just catching up on your travels. Great to see your photos of New York...and boy it looks cold. You will be looking forward to NZ to warm up!
I am off to China in a fortnight, with the photographic society and will be travelling with another photographer. It was too good an opportunity to turn down, so no time to rest!
Take care. Meg
